Q: How many retailers are analysed?

A: We work with carefully selected retailers which allows us to ensure we access the best prices they have available, which in turns allows us to make your electricity bill as healthy as they we can.

We will only ever show you one recommended plan, just like your local Doctor you only need one prescription to make you healthy, and you only need one plan choice to make your energy bill healthy.

Q: Are you owned or affiliated to a particular retailer?

A. No. We operate independently of the retailers we work with. However, we are dependent of those we do work with to provide us with the most competitive products and pricing that they can, and offer the customers that switch to them the best service possible.

We may not always have available all the products available from each retailer in the Retailer list. To maximise the savings available from our 100% accurate health check, we look to ensure we have the most competitive plans available that we can.

Q: Can you help me save all of the time?

A: Probably not. 10% of customers already have a pretty healthy bill, 90% do not. So 90% of the time we can find ways to save you money and help make your bill healthier. Because our health check process is 100% accurate, when we say you can save, we mean it. No one else does this.

Q. How long will it take to calculate and complete my health check?

A: Once you have uploaded the images of your current bill, it will a few minutes for us to analyse your bill and send you your results. At times we receive large volumes of bills and/or there may be additional details on your bill that we need to check and in such occasions it will take a little longer to produce your personalised analysis.

Q: Who built your health check engine?

Our health check engine was designed and built in Australia by Analytical Models, a business run for over 15 years by Australians, and is owned by Australians. Their technology has also been used around the world.

Q: How accurate is your health check engine?

A: Our health check engine is 100% accurate and trusted. It has been used in industrial grade applications for the last 15 years for utility providers throughout the world. However, where we feel that a predicted savings or bill size representation may be misleading, we are very careful to let you know. If there is any uncertainty on the amount of money you can save we always take a conservative view so we never underestimate your estimated costs, or overestimate the savings available.

Q. Why do you need a bill to provide a health check?

A: The only way to accurately assess the potential savings available to you, is to extract critical pieces of information and data from your bill, and complete a 100% accurate health check.

Q: What do you do with my billing information?

A: We will use it to understand if within our Retailer List there are plans which are competitive and offer potential savings. If you choose to switch to a new retailer, and make the recommended savings, we will use the information on your bill to facilitate the switch.

Q: What do you do with my personal information?

A: We capture your bill, and if you switch a form of ID and your date of birth. We use all of this information to assist with transferring your electricity from your current provider to a new one. We store all of this information securely, and only for as long as we need to in-line with our Privacy Policy.

Q: Do you get a commission if I change my retailer through you?

A: Yes - we receive a small fee from the retailer you choose to switch to. If you don't switch through us, we do not. We prefer customers to switch through us, but our health check service is FREE to use regardless of whether you switch or not, this provides Australians for the first time a way to accurately review the health of their electricity bills.

Q: Should I do my own comparison?

A: If you have the time and feel you need to, then absolutely. You can be assured that the analysis we have undertaken is 100% accurate, and if we made any assumptions, these are clearly listed. But remember, there are 25+ licenced electricity retailers across Australia, so there's a bit of work to do to check all their prices, discounts and T&C's.

Q: What happens if you show no or very little savings?

A: If this were to happen, it means that you are on a competitive plan and your electricity bill is healthy. Of course, this will interest us, and you can be assured if we find a new plan which can make your healthy bill even healthier, we will get in touch and let you know.

We welcome you to our site and we want to make it as user-friendly as possible. By using the website you acknowledge and agree to these terms and conditions (Conditions of Use).

The information available on this website is provided for Residential and Small Business customers only. Use of Your Information

You acknowledge and agree that Energy Bill Doctor may use your personal information in accordance with the Energy Bill Doctor Privacy Policy.


Limitation of Liability

For the purposes of creating the health check and delivering a new customer to an energy retailer we use a combination of supplier, Energy Bill Doctor and customer information, and therefore there may be inaccuracies in the Website Information. Before making an ultimate decision to purchase a product you should consult the relevant retailer and the correct product information. We do not warrant or guarantee the:

  • Timeliness, accuracy or completeness of the Website Information; or
  • Quality of the results obtained from the use of the website.

  • To the maximum extent permitted by law, we have no liability in relation to or arising out of the Website Information and website health check recommendations.

    Energy Bill Doctor will pass on your personal information to the relevant retailers if you choose to switch to the relevant retailer, however, Energy Bill Doctor does not guarantee when or if you will actually switch to the chosen energy retailer.


    Indemnity

    To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all liability and you agree to indemnify us, our directors, employees, agents, and contractors for any loss suffered, or any costs that may be incurred arising from your breach of these terms or your use of this website.


    Disclosure of Commission/Fees

    Energy Bill Doctor receives payment of fees from participating retailers in order to provide the health check service, and provide them with a customer who wishes to switch to the chosen retailer.


    Pricing

    All plan prices are inclusive of GST and are quoted in Australian dollars, Energy Bill Doctor does not guarantee the accuracy of pricing information on the website.


    Promotional Codes

    Energy Bill Doctor offers Promotional Codes from time to time for customers who sign up online via Energy Bill Doctor to receive a credit on their electricity bills. Unless otherwise stated, these credits are applied as $25 on the first bill from the selected retailer and $25 on the third bill* from the selected retailer (* Based on quarterly billing). Promotional Codes can be volume restricted or time AND volume restricted; all Promotional Codes have a limited availability and we reserve the right to not accept a Promotional Code if the Promotional Code is oversubscribed;we also reserve the right to not accept a Promotional Code if has been used via our offline sales process. All 'expired' promotional codes will be listed here for reference.

    Free Electricity Competition

    Acceptance of Conditions

    Information regarding prizes and how to enter forms part of these conditions. By entering, entrants accept these conditions.

    Restrictions on Entry

    Open to all residents of NSW and Victoria except directors, management and employees (and the immediate families of directors, management and employees) of the Promoter or of the agencies or companies associated with this competition. The free electricity only applies to a residential address in NSW and Victoria. A residential address is defined as having a NMI with a residential network tariff.

    Duration of Competition

    The competition begins at 9am (AEST) on 1st August 2016 and closes 12am (AEST) on 31st May 2017 (Competition Period).

    Method of Entry

    Need to provide a valid email address and have health checked their electricity bill through Energy Bill Doctor to enter. A customer may enter different bills with different NMI's, and the draw will be made against and prize allocated to a single NMI.

    Winner must not be running a business out of the residential address.

    Entrants are responsible for their own costs associated with accessing the internet. All entries must be received by the Promoter during the Competition Period. Entries are deemed to be received at the time they are received by the Promoter's database and not at the time of submission by the entrant. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for late, lost, incomplete, incorrectly submitted, delayed, illegible, corrupted or misdirected entries, or claims or correspondence whether due to error, omission, alteration, tampering, deletion, theft, destruction, transmission interruption, communications failure or otherwise. The Promoter has no control over mobile telephone communications networks or lines and is not liable for any problems associated with them, whether due to traffic congestion, technical malfunction or otherwise. The Promoter is not liable for any consequences of user error including (without limitation) costs incurred. Entrants who enter using multiple email addresses or aliases may be disqualified.

    Draw details

    The draw will be conducted at Energy Bill Doctor, 6/302 Birrell St, Bondi at 9am (AEST) on 1st June 2017. There will be one winner. The draw will be conducted using an approved electronic draw system. The approved electronic draw system will randomly select a unique competition entrant during the Competition Period. The first valid entry to be randomly drawn will win the prize.

    Prize Details

    Will cover the period from the 1st invoice which begins after the closing date of the competition, after the initial bill health check has been completed and the customer has transferred (where applicable) to the competitive energy retailer deal. The prize is available until the final invoice that completes a full year of invoicing or nearest to that.

    Prize is non-transferrable, it will be associated with the NMI of the bill that was health checked. The winner must meet all criteria associated with any conditional discounts on their bill, for example, if they have a pay-on-time discount then their bill must be paid on time. If the bill is not paid on time, the amount of reimbursement for that bill will be the total bill cost, less the available pay on time discount.

    The winner must pay their electricity bill first and then show the paid bill to Energy Bill Doctor who will reimburse the winner for the amount on the bill.

    Late payment fees are not eligible for reimbursement

    The bill amount that is reimbursed is after any rebates. For example if the electricity bill is $100 and there is a $20 rebate then the amount which would be reimbursable is $100 less the rebate amount of $20, so $80.

    The bill amount that is reimbursed is after any feed-in tariff benefits. For example if the electricity bill is $100 and there is a $20 feed-in tariff benefit then the amount which would be reimbursable is $100 less the feed-in tariff amount of $20, so $80.

    Charges associated with special meter reads are not eligible for reimbursement.

    To receive the prize you must have had your electricity bill health checked by EBD and moved to the recommended plan or a plan that provides higher savings that the plan recommended by EBD The winner must health check each invoice through Energy Bill Doctor before it is paid in the year for which they are eligible for reimbursement.

    All other costs associated with the prize, including but not limited to any transfer costs, additional taxes, insurance and other ancillary costs are the responsibility of the winner, as incurred. The prize is subject to any additional terms and conditions specified by the prize supplier/s.

    Publicity

    The prize winner must, at the Promoter's request, participate in all promotional activity (such as publicity and photography) surrounding the winning of the prize, free of charge, and consent to the Promoter using their names and images in promotional material.

    Prize pool

    The total prize pool is valued up to $2,000 AUD (inc. GST).

    Exclusion of liability

    The Promoter and its associated agencies and companies will not be liable for any loss (including, without limitation, indirect, special or consequential loss or loss of profits), expense, damage, personal injury or death which is suffered or sustained (whether or not arising from any person's negligence) in connection with this competition or accepting or using any prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law (in which case that liability is limited to the minimum allowable by law).

    Facebook and Social Media sites

    The Promoter may communicate or advertise this competition using Facebook and/or any other social media site(s). The competition however, is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook. Entrants are providing their information to the Promoter and not to Facebook. Each entrant completely releases Facebook from any and all liability.

    Notification of winners

    The winners will be notified by phone and in writing through their email address and their names and suburbs will be published on the Energy Bill Doctor website on 2 nd June 2017. By entering this competition, each entrant requests that his or her full address not be published.

    Awarding prizes

    The Promoter may require winners to provide proof of identity, proof of age, proof of a current and valid ‘full' Australian driver's license and proof of residency at the nominated prize delivery address. Identification considered suitable for verification is at the Promoter's discretion.

    Disqualification of entries

    If a winning entry is deemed not to comply with these conditions of entry, the entry will be discarded and a new winner of that prize will be determined by drawing a further valid entry in accordance with paragraph 6, subject to the written direction of any relevant authority. The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into relating to the matter.

    The Promoter may, in its sole discretion, disqualify all entries from, and prohibit further participation in this competition by, any person who tampers with or benefits from any tampering with the entry process or with the operation of the competition or acts in violation of these conditions, acts in a disruptive manner or acts with the intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person.

    Problems affecting competition

    If for any reason any aspect of this competition is not capable of running as planned, including by reason of infection by computer virus, mobile network failure, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any cause beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this competition, the Promoter may in its sole discretion cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition, or invalidate any affected entries, subject to the approval of the gaming authorities in each state and territory, where required.

    Unclaimed prize draw

    In the event of the prize not being accepted or claimed within 3 months of the draw, the relevant winner's entry will be deemed invalid and the Promoter reserves the right to conduct such further draws at 9am (AEST) on 1st September 2017 at the same location as the original draw as are necessary to distribute the prize, subject to any requirements of any gaming authority. Any winner in this draw will be notified by phone and in writing within 2 days of the draw and will have their name, suburb and state of residence published on the Energy Bill Doctor website on 4th September 2017. Whilst the prize has not been claimed this process will continue to happen.

    Privacy statement

    All entries will be the property of the Promoter. The information entrants provide will be used by the Promoter for the purpose of conducting this competition. The Promoter may disclose entrants' personal information to its contractors and agents to assist in conducting this competition or communicating with entrants and to State and Territory gaming authorities and winners' names may be published as required under the relevant legislation. The Promoter is bound by the National Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988. Entrants can request access to the personal information the Promoter holds about them by contacting the Promoter at the below address. The entrant consents to the storage of their personal information on the Promoter's database and the Promoter may use this information for future promotional and marketing purposes regarding the Promoter's products including contacting the entrant via electronic messaging.

    By using the website you acknowledge and agree that Energy Bill Doctor may use your personal information (Personal Information) in accordance with the Energy Bill Doctor Privacy Statement, contained in these Conditions of Use.


    Energy Bill Doctor's Use of Your Information: it is important that you are comfortable that our website is secure and that any information that you provide to us will be treated confidentially. All of your Personal Information collected by Energy Bill Doctor to provide the Service, such as personal details, profile questions and electricity bill will be collected, used and held in accordance with the requirements of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act). Cookie technology on the website allows us to identify your movements around the website. This information provides us with constructive feedback about the website so that we can identify the most effective areas and improve the less popular ones.     Your Acknowledgement About the use of your Personal Information: in consideration for us expending time and effort in providing the Service to you, you agree and acknowledge that Energy Bill Doctor may use your Personal Information for the purpose of providing the service and to inform the relevant energy retailer of information required to facilitate a transfer to a new energy retailer and energy plan (the Purpose); may disclose your Personal Information where necessary for the Purpose and where permitted under the Privacy Act; Have additional obligations to gather, retain or disclose your Personal Information under law; may transfer your Personal Information to a party across state or national borders where this is necessary for the Purpose; and Energy Bill Doctor may use your Personal Information to conduct promotions and giveaways but ONLY as Energy Bill Doctor. For clarity your Personal Information WILL NOT be shared with 3rd parties (If you do not want to receive or be involved in these activities you can withdraw your consent by contacting us at support@energybilldoctor.com.au).

    Jurisdiction

    This website is for Australian residents , small business and people over 18 years of age. The law applicable to the state of New South Wales applies to the use of this website and the parties submit to the jurisdiction of the courts of the state of New South Wales.
